Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot 'Yellow Label' Brut NV, Champagne, France - 1.5l

£98

Few bottles of any beverage are quite as distinctive as that of the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label. The moment this magnum is produced, you can be sure that any company will be appropriately dazzled, looking forward to sharing in the moment and admiring your generosity. There is more to this champagne than mere aesthetic splendour, though. Popping the cork unleashes warm scents of vanilla and fruit, while the taste itself is unmistakable. Sharp and acidic peach is tempered by smooth vanilla, with a smoky aftertaste completing a unique and unrepeatable experience.

WHAT IT GOES WITH

Lightly-grilled fish is the natural companion of Veuve Clicquot. Any form of seafood will make a fine accompaniment, though a salmon steak also forms a delightful association. Other light dishes, including pasta, will also work well with this champagne.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD

The Veuve Clicquot vineyard covers 393 hectares in Reims, with the grapes grown on-site boasting an average classification close to 96%.  The grapes used in this champagne are grown on the side of a hill, which ensures maximum exposure to sunlight. The history of Veuve Clicquot is as fascinating as the champagne is refreshing. Founded by Philippe Clicquot, it was his daughter-in-law Madame Clicquotthat truly placed this champagne house on the map making a mockery of beliefs of the business acumen of women in the 19th Century.
