Haut-Médoc

Château Larose Perganson 2019, Haut-Médoc, France - 1.5l

£78

Good Haut-Médoc is the most quintessentially British of Bordeaux’s reds – often elegant, sometimes austere, and always full of character. This one is classic in the best sense of the word, showing a brooding crimson colour and enticing one in with its subtle aromas of black fruits and spice. In the mouth it explodes with blackcurrant and blackberry flavours, with a full body, powerful structure and a long, elegant finish.

GRAPE

  • 40% Merlot

WHAT IT GOES WITH

Transform your kitchen into a little southwestern French brasserieand serve this alongside some local Médocainefare. Have this Haut-Médoc with a juicy magret de canard with roasted market vegetables and you’ll feel like a true gourmand. Absolument magnifique!

VINEYARD

Dutch traders drained the salt marshes of the Haut-Médoc in the 17th century, and the region has been making the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon in the world ever since (sorry, California!). First growths like Châteaux Latour, Lafiteand Mouton Rothschild may get the most attention, but there’s plenty of smaller châteaux making great wines without any of the fuss. Larose Pergansonis a great example, its 35-hectare vineyard lying just south of the Pauillacborder, well within view of some of Latour’s best plots.
