Nyetimber
Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2010 Vintage, West Sussex, England - 1.5l
Nyetimber have long been considered the gold standard for English sparkling wine, and this 2010 vintage is arguably the house's finest hour. It's also something of a collector's item, marking the final production of sparkling wine with a distinct Pinot Noir bias before Nyetimber switched their attention to multi-vintage produce. Make no mistake, though, this is not a wine to leave gathering dust in a cellar. Eminently drinkable at this point, the 2010 Cuvee has aged immaculately. The fresh and distinctive ripe lemon sharpness is tempered by hints of apple, blackcurrant and buttery brioche, before giving way to hints of honey, roasted mushrooms, and just a pinch of hay. This is the taste of the great British summer, ready to be enjoyed at any time of year.
