El Coto
El Coto 'Coto de Imaz' Gran Reserva 2012, Rioja, Spain - 1.5l
Bold, tannic and just a little acidic, Coto de Imaz is a Rioja for the ages. The aroma hits your nose from the moment the cork is popped, with leather, tobacco and smoked wood making is clear that only the finest Tempranillo grapes have been selected. The taste is even more satisfying, with an oaky dryness contemplated and softened by hints of vanilla, blackberry and cherry. Staying on the perfectly-balanced side of sweetness, this Rioja eventually leaves a long, lingering finish that is a pleasure to hold on the palate. It’s easy to see why this wine has scooped countless awards, including Best in Show at the Decanter Wine Awards.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD
The Rioja region is as closely identified with Spain as Champagne is in France. El Coto has been a fixture in the terrain since 1970, continuing to go from strength to strength under the current stewardship of current head winemaker César Fernández. The vineyard has steadily grown over time, now boasting over 700 hectares across three territories. Based almost a thousand metres above sea, the conditions are ideal for a fresh and intense blend of grapes - most notably Tempranillo. El Coto is the largest winemaker in Rioja, and in the eyes of many, the finest.
