Dom Pérignon

Dom Pérignon 2008, Champagne, France - 1.5l

£390

Dom Pérignon is arguably the most legendary name in champagne, and this package provides the perfect gift for any enthusiast. 2008 Dom Pérignon is growing increasingly difficult to source, with the rarity adding to the charm of this vintage, while it was also the final champagne created under the stewardship of celebrated chef de cave Richard Geoffroy. Outside of these external elements, 2008 was also a celebrated year for the product. Those nose is subtle, with hints of jasmine, fruit and tobacco, but this champagne comes into its own once samples. An acidic blend of apple, white pepper, vanilla, brioche, citrus and chalk create a taste sensation that may not sound appealing on paper, but is utterly irresistible in reality.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD

As a vineyard, Dom Pérignon surely needs no introduction. Founded by a monk of the same name in the 17th Century, the first Dom Pérignon champagne was released for sale in 1936. Ever since, this house has earned a reputation as the go-to champagne of the great and the good, with 2008 a particularly outstanding year. The weather throughout the growing season was considerably more changeable than the rest of the decade, ensuring that the grapes plucked at harvest were bolder, more balanced and bursting with ripeness, while the vines that hosted them were in better condition than ever before.
