Now, this is rosé. It’s got a brilliantly clear salmon pink colour. The nose starts out all red fruits with lots of redcurrants and wild strawberry, and that develops into seriously juicy notes of white peach and pear. In the mouth, there’s great balance between the acidity and alcohol, leading to an elegant mouthfeel and the kind of length that might just have you rethinking what rosé can do.
- 40% Garnacha
- 25% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 20% Syrah/Shiraz
WHAT IT GOES WITH
Grill up some BBQ vegetable and lamb kebabs and it’s summer all year round
Château Beaulieu is situated in Rognes, a hilly part of the stylish Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation. “Beau lieu” means “nice place” in French, and the estate is aptly named. Its 140 hectares of vines reach an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, lying in the heart of an ancient volcanic crater. This prime vinous real estate has been farmed since Roman times, though the stately château itself is a slightly more modern development, built as a stronghold for King Henry III in 1576.
