Le Mesnil

Le Mesnil Magnum, Grand Cru

Anybody that writes off Chardonnay clearly isn’t au fait with Blanc de Blancs Champagne. Alongside nearby Bourgogne, Champagne makes some of the world’s finest expressions of Chardonnay. This one’s got a delicate, pale gold colour and some seriously fine bubbles. The nose calls to mind a small French boulangerie - complex with notes of baker’s yeast, brioche and toasted bread – though there’s certainly fresh citrus fruit in there, too. This is substantial in the mouth, rich and full-bodied, with toasty and creamy flavours including brioche, biscuit and baked bread. It finishes fresh and mouth-watering, drawing you right back in for another sip.

  • 100% Chardonnay

This one has enough body to accompany more than just appetisers. Serve this at dinner with a thick seafood chowder or a juicy tuna steak.

Champagne’s Côte des Blancs is the region’s quality hotspot for Chardonnay. The village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is considered to be the area’s finest, and 100% of its vineyards are ranked as “Grand Cru” standard. Champagne Le Mesnil is a quality-driven co-operative of passionate winegrowers, founded in 1937. The group’s vineyards are east-facing with topsoil over a base layer of chalk, a winning combination for Chardonnay.
